Up for sale, a Morgan Amplification AC20 1x12” combo in showroom clean condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original user manual and warranty card, and a custom canvas slip cover. Designed by Joe Morgan as a single-channel, modern interpretation of the best early ‘60s Class A British amps, this hand-wired AC20’s simple controls belie a vast array of vintage-flavored tones. The hand-wired circuit features custom-wound transformers, and controls include Power Level, Cut (Tone), and Volume knobs, with Bright/Dark and Bass/Treble two-way toggles. The Power Level knob is a unique and exceedingly useful control which dictates the voltage available in the output section of the amplifier, between 1/4 and 20 watts. Morgan describes it as “a zoom lens for volume,” reducing overall output without choking the signal and allowing the amp to essentially behave as if it were at full volume. As such, this AC20 is very pedal-friendly and delivers killer tone at any volume, perfect for live performances and smaller spaces. The AC20 is voiced via a 16 ohm, 12” Celestion G12H75 Creamback speaker, which has a harmonically-rich midrange and provides ample cut. The tube complement includes a pair of EL84 power tubes, with two 12AX7 preamp tubes and a solid state rectifier. The AC20 has a robust, voidless Baltic birch ply cab that utilizes a fixed baffle to transfer the speaker energy to the entire cabinet, optimizing bass response. The cab features Morgan’s proprietary Twilight wrap; a custom ballistic vinyl covering that is vulcanized to the wood to ensure long lasting durability. Due to the way Morgan applied this unique (somewhat porous) vinyl covering, it can be slightly tacky/sticky to the touch on certain parts of the enclosure. This unit is in fantastic shape with pristine graphics, original chicken head knobs, and barely a mark on the enclosure. A custom canvas slip cover is included, along with the user manual and warranty card.
