Up for sale, a 2017 Martin D-18E Retro in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and augmented with a soundhole microphone and additional XLR output. Offered from 2012-19, this Martin combines the dreadnought body of a D-18 with modern Fishman F1 Aura+ electronics for unrivaled functionality. Boasting a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, this Martin delivers a bold and crisp sound with sweet trebles and a warm, full low end, offering a robust, smooth growl when digging in hard with a flatpick. This Martin weighs 4lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-54 bronze strings and easy-playing action. The mahogany neck has Martin's Modified Low Oval neck shape and High Performance Taper, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard features abalone dot inlay and slender fretwire. The frets have their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing wear under the plain strings on frets 1-7. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25.4” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1 3/4“ in width. The headstock sports an Indian rosewood veneer and Grover open-gear tuners with butterbean buttons and gleaming nickel plating. The Fishman F1 Aura+ electronics are available exclusively on Martin guitars, and the Aura Imaging preserves the pure and unique acoustic tone of each instrument with studio microphone quality. The Aura technology features a bridge plate-mounted transducer that adds dimension, resonance and body to your guitar's tone, and there are also a bevy of tonal sculpting options available at the low profile Volume and Blend/Tone wheels which can be accessed by pressing the knobs. The Tone knob can function as a pickup/transducer blend, as well as a mid scoop, and the Volume knob has a Phase control and is also used to access the built-in tuner, which has a small LCD screen adjacent to the wheels on the bass-side rim. This Martin has also been augmented with an internal condenser microphone on a gooseneck, which routes directly to an XLR output for additional studio and stage-ready functionality. The ebony bridge features a compensated saddle with plenty of height, and the bridge is flush with the top on all edges. The center seam has been reglued on top, and further cosmetic wear on the gloss lacquer finish includes a few tiny chips along the tortoise binding, a limited area of buckle worming on the back, and a number of faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The satin finish on the neck profile has been buffed to a smooth semi-gloss through play, with further palm wear through the finish on the bass-side shoulder. The original Martin-branded hardshell case with dark green plush interior is included, along with a Boveda humidity controller pack.
