Up for sale, a Jackson Stars Soloist model SL-138 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A rare Japanese domestic market model, the Jackson Stars instruments are the direct descendants of the Grover Jackson line, expertly crafted at the Chu Shin factory. Featuring neck through maple construction with alder body wings and a 24 fret rosewood board with jumbo fretwire, this Jackson has an immediate, clear sonic quality that provides the perfect platform for the SSH pickup configuration.
The stock USA-made Seymour Duncan pickup complement includes a TB-5 Trembucker in the bridge position, and a pair of Classic Stack hum-cancelling single coils. The Trembucker provides an unmistakable upper midrange attack, with a tight, articulate low end, and harmonically rich highs that really sing, while the Classic Stack single-coil pickups offer all of the sparkle and chime of pure Strat tone without the hum. We've dialed in this Soloist here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and heel-less construction, offering easy access to the highest frets and measuring .750" deep at the 1st fret and .845" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features sharkfin inlay and stock jumbo fretwire. The frets have their full factory height and plenty of meat, with light uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, extending exclusively beneath the plain strings to fret 13. The guitar plays effortlessly up the 25 1/2" scale with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The locking nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock is fitted with the original black Gotoh tuners that turn smoothly.
The electronics function as intended, with Master Volume and Tone controls with knurled black knobs and a three-way pickup selector toggle. The Schaller-made Floyd Rose Licensed vibrato is designed for deep divebombs and broad, expressive wails with ideal tuning stability, complete with matching black arm. The gloss Dark Metallic Blue finish has a hint of metalflake, and the clear coat has aged with various shades of teal to purple in the refraction. Cosmetic wear is limited to light finger scuffing next to the volume knob, and light marks and finish scratches mostly relegated to the perimeter of the body. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.
A gigbag is included.
