Up for sale, a circa 2011 Gord Miller one-off custom Les Paul Junior-style build, complete with a hardshell case. A master of Gibson restoration with decades of experience, Gord Miller’s client list includes Billy Duffy (The Cult), Paul Stanley, and Metallica; Miller’s finish work is widely considered to be among the best in the business, with proprietary nitro lacquer shades carefully formulated directly from genuine original examples.
This ‘58-style Les Paul Junior build, finished and assembled by Miller in the early 2010s, features a body and neck much older than Gord’s assembly of this guitar. Of unknown origin, this vintage mahogany body/neck nails the finer points of Gibson construction, and the guitar is featherweight at 6lbs 7oz. Acoustically the guitar yields plenty of rich, barking cut and midrange growl, and the P-90 is wound to late ‘50s spec at 8.3k ohms, capable of glassy cleans, overdriven roar and dense harmonics. This Gord Miller custom Les Paul Junior has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Circa ‘59 chunky C, measuring .895” 1st fret, .990” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Indian rosewood, dot inlay
-Frets: Medium jumbo, no wear
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, nylon
-Headstock: Custom “Gordon” pearl inlay, “Les Paul Junior” script
-Tuners: Kluson Deluxe single-line strips
-Serialization: 8-prefix, vintage-style inked
Body Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Pickups: P-90 (8.3k oms, builder/winder unknown)
-Controls: Volume, Tone
-Harness: CTS pots (2011), Sprague Orange Drop tone cap
-Hardware: Wraparound lightweight aluminum tailpiece
-Plastics: Montreux aged black bonnet knobs, one-ply tortoise pickguard, “dogear” pickup cover
The gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish is emblematic of Gord’s best work, vintage-accurate in its shade and diffusion, with horizontal checking and subtle marks of simulated wear. Beyond Gord’s aging, there is no discernable additional playwear, and the nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
A hardshell case is included.
