Up for sale, a Fender Telecaster Custom ‘72 vintage reissue "partscaster" in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This Telecaster pairs the original electronics and neck of a '93 Made in Japan Telecaster Custom model TC72 with a brand new genuine Fender body, factory finished in Fiesta Red.
The alder body and one-piece maple neck deliver a smooth, balanced natural acoustic tone faithfully captured by the pickup complement. With a Wide Range humbucker in the neck position and a traditional Tele single coil at the bridge, this Tele has a very broad tonal spectrum, from thick, meaty humbucker tones in the neck position to chiming, twangy single coil tones at the bridge. Of course the middle position is truly a "best of both worlds" setting, and the two pickups balance well both in terms of output and their respective tonal attributes. This Tele weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation.
The one-piece maple neck has a chunky C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder in every register, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4" radius, with stock slender fretwire that has well-rounded crowns, showing only a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-7. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42mm (1.650") in width. The headstock has an era-accurate “Fender Telecaster Custom” logo and P-prefix serial number beneath it, and the original Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text is present on the neck above the three-bolt Fender Japan-embossed neck plate with micro-tilt adjustment.
On the body, all the electronics work as intended, and the original pickup pair is wired to the stock harness with full-size Japanese pots that date to May of '93. Controls include a three-way pickup selector and dedicated Volume and Tone controls for each pickup. The “Pat. Pend” bridge exhibits uniform surface patina, complete with its trio of stock steel saddles. Plastics include a brand-new mint green three-ply pickguard and quartet of witch hat knobs. As the body is brand-new, the gloss Fiesta Red custom color finish is practically perfect. The ambered gloss finish on the neck is also notably clean.
A Fender-branded gigbag is included.
