Up for sale, a Fender Mary Kaye-style Stratocaster Partscaster in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Assembled here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar from a selection of high-quality components including an early V-shaped “Crafted in Japan” Strat neck, Warmoth lightweight ash body finished in transparent blonde, a gold anodized pickguard and gold-plated hardware, and Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot pickups; this guitar looks and sounds just as good as the iconic instrument that inspired it.
The USA-made official Fender Licensed ash body by Warmoth and one-piece maple neck yield an acoustic profile with excellent note attack, treble detail, and rich midrange punch. These qualities translate faithfully via the Seymour Duncan Texas Hot pickups, boasting vintage-spec touches including black fiber bobbins, cloth-covered leads, and staggered alnico magnets. These single coils are bright and sparkling, with plenty of punch and spank. The neck pickup is warm and round, while the bridge has a hot, aggressive bite. The in-between positions are rife with squawk and hollow cut. Featherweight at just 6lbs 10oz, this guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The “Crafted in Japan” 1954 reissue one-piece maple neck has a deep V-shaped profile carve and feels both substantial and comfortable in the palm, measuring .915” deep at the 1st fret and .985” at the 12th. The maple fretboard has been refretted with pristine jumbo fretwire, retaining the original 7 1/4" radius. This Strat plays cleanly in all registers with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1.675 (42.5mm) in width. On the headstock, the gold Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” script and A-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate, dating the neck to 1997.
All the electronics work as intended, with the Seymour Duncan single coils governed by a complete Fender wiring harness from '95, complete with TBX Tone control. This unique center detent pot enhances your tonal palette without the use of a battery. From 0-5, the TBX is a standard tone control, but from 5-10 the resistance decreases, allowing more bass, treble, presence and output to flow to your amp. The gold plating on the hardware is bright and clean, as is the Fender Custom Shop anodized gold aluminum pickguard.
The translucent Blonde finish highlights the prominent, dynamic grain of the Warmoth-made official-Fender Licensed ash body. Cosmetic wear is limited to a handful of light finish scratches and minor dings on the body as a whole, particularly concentrated along the lower bout body edge, some finish checking at the edges of the neck pocket, and some minor buckle wear largely relegated to the tremolo cavity cover. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.
A padded Precision Instruments-brand gigbag is included.
