Up for sale, a Fender Custom Shop NOS Relic partscaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order, outfitted with Lollar Special T pickups, Glendale saddles, and a Callaham wiring harness. Comprising a 2017 Custom Shop 1963 quartersawn maple neck paired with a 2014 Custom Shop 1967 alder body, the guitar delivers a clear, balanced acoustic tone with a dynamic treble snap. Loaded with Lollar Special T pickups, these single coils are Lollar's most popular Tele pickup, designed to be midrange focused with a small bump in compression and a smooth top end. There's plenty of chewy twang on tap, with taut, sinewy wound strings, and Lollar categorizes these pickups as, "well-suited for straight-ahead rock ‘n’ roll or modern country guitar, but versatile enough for any style of music." Weighing 7lbs 10oz, we've dialed in this Custom Shop Telecaster here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.
The quartersawn maple neck has Fender's '60s Style Oval "C" profile carve which has full shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .885" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features clay dot inlay, a 9.5" modern fretboard radius, and original medium jumbo fretwire which has plenty of meat, showing only faint wear on the crowns of frets 1-6 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The carved bone nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features Kluson Revolution 19:1 gear ratio tuning machines that turn very smoothly and hold pitch reliably.
The electronics function flawlessly with the Lollar Special T pair wired to a Callaham pre-wired control plate. Hardware includes Glendale "Groovy '60s" compensated saddles mounted to the Fender bridge, with a Glendate extra-heavy neck plate, screw-on switch tip, and a pair of knurled '50s-style knobs. A Fender mint green pickguard accents the nitro lacquer Candy Apple Red finish, and the Custom Shop "Relic" stamps are present beneath the pickguard, under the neck plate, and on the neck heel. The nitro lacquer gloss finish has a few small finish chips exposing the primer coat on the body perimeter and adjacent to the neck plate, to a lesser extent on the lower bout on top. There are only a few additional faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, and the satin lacquer finish on the neck profile is flawless.
A Fender-branded tweed hardshell case is included, along with the original Custom Shop COA for the body.
