This Fender Custom Shop 1961 Stratocaster Heavy Relic features a Custom ‘60-style Oval C neck profile, hand-wound Texas Special single coil pickups, and a gloss Aged Vintage White Over Three-Tone Sunburst nitro lacquer finish with Fender’s Heavy Relic treatment.
Weighing 7lbs 6oz, this Tele features a two-piece alder body and a quartersawn maple neck capped by a AAA rosewood fingerboard with a 9.5" radius and 6105 Narrow Tall fretwire. The nitro lacquer Aged Vintage White Over Three-Tone Sunburst finish exhibits “shattered glass” checking and extensive simulated wear via Fender’s Heavy Relic treatment.
The Texas Special is the pickup that redefined hot Texas blues tone. Fender’s Hand-Wound Custom Shop Texas Special Stratocaster pickups are overwound for increased output, and are made with alnico V magnets and enamel-coated magnet wire for great midrange bite with crystalline highs and tight bass.
