Up for sale, a Fender "Stack Knob" Jazz Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A thoughtfully constructed build with a host of player-friendly features, this instrument pairs a Fender American Standard alder body with a solid pau ferro Warmoth (USA-made and Fender-licensed) neck. This tonewood pairing delivers the balanced, neutral tone of alder paired with the articulation and underlying warmth of the pau ferro neck. And at 10lbs 6oz, the instrument has ample sustain and power when you dig in.
At the heart of the instrument is a pair of Fender's N3 Noiseless pickups, governed by an active stack knob control layout with individual Volume knobs for each pickup, as well as dedicated active Treble and Bass controls for each single coil. The control array is rounded out with a series/parallel mini toggle. The resulting tonal palette is broad and detailed, and the N3 pickups feature Alnico V magnets in the bridge position and Alnico III at the neck, ensuring a distinct sonic signature for each single coil. Designed to remove hum and preserve single coil tone and dynamics, the N3 Noiseless pickups ensure the Jazz Bass' distinctive midrange growl and low end punch. We've had this Jazz Bass professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 45-105 strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.
The Warmoth-made pau ferro neck has a slender C profile carve with good shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .790" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The thick slab 21 fret pau ferro fretboard features clay dot inlay and pristine stock medium jumbo fretwire. The bass plays easily in all registers up the 34" scale length with an ideally adjusted and responsive graphite truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2" in width, and the headstock features a chrome set of lightweight modern Fender F tuners that hold pitch well with a particularly smooth response.
On the body, the electronics all function as intended, with stacked Volume knobs and active Bass and Treble controls governing the pair of Fender N3 Noiseless pickups. The chrome hardware is extremely clean, and the body is fitted with a Gotoh top loader bridge. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to scuffing across the black three-ply pickguard, and light scuffs and scratches mostly relegated to the back and lower bout body edge. The neck profile sports a smooth satin finish.
A padded tweed Fender gigbag is included.
