Up for sale, an ESP Forest Bass in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A uniquely contoured bass with a sculpted, bony appearance, this rare order-made ESP model was expertly crafted in Japan. This one-off offering features a See Thru Purple finish over a flame maple top, paired with an alder body, maple neck capped with a slab ebony fretboard, and set of Seymour Duncan Basslines Jazz Bass pickups.
The extended neck tenon contributes to the natural sustain and resonance of the instrument, while the slab ebony fretboard adds treble articulation and a glassy note attack. The Bassline pickups produce a tight, powerful low end, nice midrange burp, and plenty of top end growl. Weighing 7lbs 14oz, this ESP bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh roundwound 45-105 strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile with modest shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .955” at the 12th. The thick slab ebony fretboard features flawless stock jumbo fretwire, and the bass plays well in all registers up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is a full 34”, and the nut measures a comfortable 1 1/2“ in width, a spec consistent with the Jazz Bass pickup complement. The headstock features a matching See Thru Purple overlay with unique contouring around the low E tuning post, and the gold set of Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
On the body, the electronics feature full-size USA-made CTS pots with dedicated Volume controls for each pickup and a Master Tone control. The top loader Schaller bridge features individual adjustable saddles, and the gold plating on the hardware shows just a touch of patina. The gloss See Thru Purple finish can appear very blue depending on lighting conditions, highlighting ripples of flame figuring that extend to the edges of the burst. Cosmetic wear on the body is limited to a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss, while the neck profile sports a clean satin finish.
The original padded ESP gigbag is included.
