Up for sale, a Dunlop Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face Billy Crawford Hand-Wired mod in mint condition, complete with the original box. Hand-wired by Billy Crawford in Bristol, TN, this Fuzz Face began its life as a modern Dunlop vintage reissue and is now an exceedingly faithful recreation of a late ‘60s-style Fuzz Face (more specifically, Eric Johnson’s famous 1968 Fuzz Face), featuring a brown circuit board, a pair of BC183 silicon transistors, and a blue hammerite finish.

Among the various Fuzz Face iterations, those with BC183s are prized for their higher overall gain and unique tone that is much gnarlier than their germanium siblings. BC183 Fuzz Faces are considered by many to be “dimed all the time” fuzzes, and while this particular example does offer some unique, smoothed-out tones with the Fuzz rolled off, it really gives up the goods when the knob is cranked up, delivering tons of harmonic complexity, bite, and searing high-gain bliss.

This is a very clean example, with no wear on the blue hammerite-finished enclosure. The interior of the pedal is signed by Billy Crawford and dated to February, 2021.
