Up for sale, a CP Thornton Elite in showroom clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Meticulously handcrafted in Turner, Maine by master luthier Chuck Thornton, CP Thornton guitars are forward-thinking, exquisite boutique instruments with premium tonewoods, components, and construction. The Elite is a decidedly unique instrument that pairs the warmth and depth of a semi-hollow with the stability of a neck-through design, stunning in its craftsmanship and cosmetic appointments.
The neck is carved from 5A Eastern curly maple and forms the centerblock of the body, which features a 5A Western curly maple top/back and 5A Eastern curly maple sides. The resulting acoustic profile is rich and resonant, indeed effectively combining the depth and openness of a semi-hollow instrument with the sustain and consistency of a neck-through one, providing an ideal platform for the pair of Lollar humbuckers and enabling unparalleled upper-fret access via the contoured heelless design. The Imperial humbuckers are Lollar’s take on Gibson’s PAF, wound to maximize frequency balance with tons of detail, top-end sweetness, and tailored midrange clarity; this Elite boasts a Low Wind Imperial at the neck, and a Standard Wind in the bridge position, and the five-way pickup selector offers coil tapping functionality for sparkling single coil-style tonalities. Weighing 7lbs 9oz, this Elite has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
