Up for sale, a Composite Acoustics Cargo carbon fiber acoustic-electric guitar in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag and hangtags. Finely appointed and incredibly durable, this Composite Acoustics model was hand-crafted in the USA, utilizing modern production techniques with extremely strict tolerances, resulting in a one-piece carbon fiber guitar. Because the neck and body are one and the same, the Cargo has top-notch sustain and resonance, impervious to changes in temperature and humidity.
Tonally, this guitar is warm and full, with plenty of volume and punch on tap when strummed with a flatpick, and airy sweetness when played gently or fingerpicked. Plugged in, the LR Baggs Active Element pickup captures that same balance and warmth from the raw carbon fiber top, with exceptional definition. The lightness of carbon fiber means this guitar weighs only 4lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-52 roundwound strings, low action, and optimal intonation.
The carbon fiber neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .865” at the 12th. The one-piece neck/body construction also enables a sculpted heel-less design, delivering unparalleled access to the upper frets. The proprietary reinforced polymer fretboard has 21 medium stainless steel frets, PLEK-treated and effortlessly playable up the 22 3/4” scale. The nut measures 1 3/4“ in width. The headstock sports a raw carbon fiber veneer and CA inlay, and the hipshot 18:1 ratio open-gear tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.
Electronics comprise the LR baggs Active Element pickup, governed by a low profile Volume thumbwheel on the soundhole edge. The bridge and compensated saddle are both precision-made from carbon fiber, and the top will never develop a belly or buckle, thanks once again to the carbon fiber’s structural integrity. Cosmetic wear on the satin finish is limited to an area of scuffing on the treble side of the strum path and a scant few very faint marks on the raw carbon fiber top. The back and sides are extremely clean, and the smooth satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original padded gigbag with Cargo embroidery is included, along with the hangtags.
