Up for sale, a Carl Martin Hot Drive’n Boost MKIII in near-mint condition, complete with the original box. Handmade by East Sound in Denmark, the Carl Martin Hot Drive’n Boost MKIII has been carefully engineered to imitate the sound of a distorting tube amplifier. A very versatile unit, the Hot Drive’n Boost pairs a clean boost with a transparent, natural-sounding overdrive, with each side of the effect independently switchable. There are a wide range of tones on tap, from pristine boosted cleans to full-on saturated overdrive.
This is the third iteration of the pedal, differentiated from the MKII by an increase in overall headroom, achieved via 2 x 2 LEDs to the MKII’s 2 x 1 diodes. The Boost ranges from 0 to 20 dB, very useful for adding extra kick to solos, and the Wave control dictates the saturation of the Drive channel, ranging from warm and fuzzy to aggressive cut (similar to a Presence knob). The Hot Drive’n Boost is powered via a built-in regulated 12V power supply, further ensuring optimal headroom, with low-output impedance to ensure noiseless connection.
There are just a couple tiny marks on the enclosure, and the foam pad on the baseplate is similarly clean.
The original box and paperwork is included.
