Up for sale, a Breedlove Ed Gerhard Signature Model jumbo acoustic guitar in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original factory paperwork and hardshell case. An early example from when Breedlove was a small shop handcrafting guitars in Tumalo, Oregon, this particular Breedlove is signed by founder and builder, Steve Henderson, as well as Ed Gerhard.

This Jumbo has a dimensional and rich sonic character that only well-cured tonewoods can accomplish, with a full 17" lower bout width and 4" body depth. The body comprises a solid graduated sitka spruce top paired with select solid rosewood back and sides, and the one-piece mahogany neck is capped by a bound ebony fingerboard. This acoustic can sound huge or delicate, capable of producing a full low end, cannon-like projection, and a dynamic, crisp top end.

As Gerhard is a Grammy Award winning guitarist lauded for his fingerstyle playing, his signature Breedlove model is voiced to showcase fingerpicking, and Breedlove's JLD Bridge System is central to the instrument's tonal response. Mounted under the ebony bridge, the device transfers the string tension and vibrations from the top to the rest of the body through the tailblock, to which it’s connected. The JLD system makes it virtually impossible for the top to warp or belly up over time, and more importantly it allows for lighter top bracing, so the top can vibrate more freely. The Sitka spruce top also features Breedlove’s graduated top carve. With a bass side that’s slightly thinner than the treble side, the guitar is fine-tuned for even response all across its frequency range. The guitar weighs 4lbs 12oz, freshly restrung with 12-53 bronze strings and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action.

The mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile that borders on a soft V at the nut, transitioning to a rounder shape as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .855” at the 9th. The koa-bound ebony fretboard features mini dot markers and stock slender fretwire. The frets are in great shape, showing light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the nut measures 1 7/8" in width, with plenty of room for effortless chording and accurate picking. The ebony peghead overlay features the Breedlove "B" inlay, and the headstock retains the stock gold Grover mini Rotomatic tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

On the body, the onboard electronics work as they should, with a single Volume control mounted inside the soundhole to govern the Fishman pickup. The ebony bridge sits flush with the top, and the compensated carved bone saddle has plenty of height for future adjustment. The soundhole rosette features abalone inlay, with top and back multi-ply and koa binding. Cosmetically, this Breedlove is in near mint condition, with a few stray surface scratches in the clear coat of the gloss mostly relegated to the headstock face. The original hand rubbed gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine.

The original hardshell case and factory paperwork is included.
