Up for sale, a Bluetron BlueDrive 2x12 combo custom amplifier in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Hand-wired by amp guru David “Smitty” Smith in Nashville, TN, the BlueDrive features two-channel design, footswitchable onboard Vibrato and Reverb, and exquisite vintage-flavored tones that combine Fender and British-style sounds. It’s crystal clear, with sweet, singing highs, a tight low end, and plenty of midrange warmth. It’s also notably responsive to user inputs, perfect for edge-of-breakup tones when dialed up.
Both channels have two inputs and independent Bright switches for a touch of extra top end sparkle. Channel 1 is the Normal channel, with Volume, Treble, Middle, and Bass knobs. Channel 2 is the Vibrato channel, which takes the Volume and three-band EQ and adds a Reverb knob plus Speed, and Intensity controls for the Vibrato effect, which can deliver light shimmers and lush warbles alike. The Reverb and Vibrato are both controllable with the included external footswitch, and the Reverb has separate Input/Output jacks for independent and stereo functionality.
The tube complement includes a matched quartet of Tung-Sol 5881 power tubes, with the preamp comprising two JJ ECG81s, two JJ ECG83s, and two GT ECC83s. The speakers are a pair of 12” Eminence Red Coat Private Jacks, which add a bit of British flavor to the Blackface-esque circuit and deliver midrange heft with plenty of thickness and balance. There is a Spkr. output knob on the back of the amp for further sculpting and situational volume adjustments without affecting tone.
This unit is in fantastic shape, with barely a mark on the black Tolex wrap, all original knobs, and pristine graphics and grillcloth.
