Benson discovered this circuit while they were designing their popular Germanium Fuzz, accidentally creating a remarkably effective Germanium clean boost that (similar to the Fuzz) is impervious to component drift, leakage, and temperature. Because this boost is free of those “weird artifacts,” as Benson describe them, it’s equally practical for studio and stage usage.
Tonally, this pedal is lush and full, delivering a pristine boost. Notes are simultaneously smoother and more detailed, providing an almost compressor-like effect to the signal with a touch of bright, creamy Germanium breakup when really cranked up.
Cosmetically, this pedal is practically perfect, with no wear to speak of on the housing and clean graphics. The original box is included, along with the user manual.
