Translating to “dullness” in English, Kusumi colors are a muted, gentle palette of colors (somewhat akin to a faded pastel) that have achieved significant popularity in the Japanese design world over the last few years. To that end, this rare “Made in Japan” Telecaster Thinline was produced in limited quantities exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, namely the Fender Tokyo flagship store and select high-tier affiliate distributors, boasting a smooth satin Kusumi Pink finish on the body, accented by gold hardware, with matching Kusumi Pink fretboard inlays and headstock logo.
The Kusumi Color Telecaster Thinline is effectively a variant of Fender’s Hybrid II model, one of the finest Tele iterations ever produced by Fender Japan (and a model not available in the USA market), with forward-thinking design and player-friendly features including Custom Voiced pickups, CTS pots, a slab 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with a 9 1/2“ radius, locking tuners, and a Modern C neck profile with a satin finish.
Featherweight at 5lbs 10oz, this Kusumi Color Telecaster Thinline has a resonant, warm acoustic response thanks to the inherent properties of the semi-hollowbody construction. The Hybrid II Custom Voiced single coil pickups deliver a bevy of quintessential Tele tonalities: there's chewy twang and sparkle on tap in the bridge position, with a sweet, bell-like neck pickup.
