Up for sale, a 2023 Ibanez Steve Vai Signature model PIA3761-XB in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags/factory paperwork, and case candy. This Ibanez features a bevy of modern, innovative features and componentry, designed for maximum playability and continuing the legacy of decades of Ibanez/Vai Signatures models.
Tonewoods include an alder body, five-piece maple/walnut neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard. Designed with Vai specifically for the PIA guitars, the high output UtoPIA humbuckers in the bridge and neck position expand on DiMarzio’s Evolution pickups, offering a focused low-end response while adding thickness and body to the top end. All the Evolution’s harmonic content is present, and the upper midrange is dialed back slightly for control and articulation. The UtoPIA Middle single coil is designed to complement the humbuckers, delivering plenty of sparkle and snap. This guitar weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple/walnut neck has the PIA shape, a very fast-feeling, slender D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .765” deep at the 1st fret and .840” at the 12th. The 24-fret thick slab rosewood fretboard has a 16.9” radius, with gold/abalone PIA blossom inlay, and the top four frets are scalloped. The jumbo fretwire is pristine, benefitting from Ibanez’s Prestige fret-edge treatment for comfort and playability. The scale length is 25 1/2“, and the locking nut measures 43mm (1.69”) in width.
Controls include a five-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume and Tone controls, and a push/pull High-Pass Filter at the Volume knob. The Edge tremolo has a magnetic cavity cover, and the humbuckers feature custom, laser-cut “baroque style” covers over a gold-patterned layer. There's barely a scratch on the matte Onyx Black finish, and the neck profile is similarly pristine.
