Up for sale, a 2023 Ibanez Prestige RG5170B in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded hardshell case, hangtags, and case candy. This upper-tiered Ibanez was crafted in Japan as part of the Prestige Series, outfitted with a bevy of premium features including Fishman Fluence HSH pickups, a Super Wizard HP neck profile, and Lo-Pro Edge tremolo.

The tonewood complement comprises a basswood body, five-piece maple/wenge neck, and 24-fret slab Macassar ebony fretboard, yielding a resonant acoustic response with glassy articulation faithfully captured by the pickup complement. The active Fishman Fluence pickups deliver a huge array of tonalities without any noise or hum, built around the patented Fluence Core technology. The Fluence Modern humbuckers in the neck and bridge position and powerful and aggressive, with lots of harmonic complexity and immediate attack, and the Voicing switch enables the humbuckers to toggle between a modern, high-output sound and a crisp, clean and fluid sound that is much more vintage-flavored. The Fluence Single Width pickup in the middle delivers a warm, clear tone that is still very punchy and sparkling, pairing well with the humbuckers in positions 2 and 4 on the selector switch. This Ibanez weighs 8lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

The five-piece maple/wenge neck has Ibanez’s Super Wizard HP profile, a very slender D-shaped carve with generous shoulders, lightly rolled fretboard edges and a fast feel, measuring .725” deep at the 1st fret and .825” at the 12th. The slab Macassar ebony fretboard is framed by tortoise binding, complete with Luminlay side dots, and the jumbo fretwire is immaculate, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1 11/16” in width, and the headstock is also framed by tortoise binding, fitted with gold Gotoh tuning machines.

Electronics comprise a five-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume and Tone knobs, and the two-way Voicing switch for the humbuckers, which only functions in positions 1 and 5 on the pickup selector. Hardware includes the dome-topped black knurled knobs and the gold Lo-Pro Edge tremolo, has a fluid response for snappy trills and deep dives. The humbucker covers retain the factory protective film, underscoring how little usage this instrument has had since new.

The body is framed on top by the same tortoise binding as the neck, and there’s nary a scratch on the Gloss Black finish. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile feels lightning fast in the palm and is similarly flawless.

The original molded hardshell case is included, along with the factory hangtags and case candy.
