Up for sale, a 2023 Ibanez Joe Satriani Signature model JS2480 in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded hardshell case, hangtags, and case candy. This modern JS Series Ibanez was designed in collaboration with Satch and built in Japan, featuring a Muscle Car Red finish, a DiMarzio Satchur8 humbucker, Sustainiac Driver neck pickup, Edge tremolo, satin neck finish, and 24-fret slab rosewood fretboard.

A basswood body and three piece maple/bubinga/maple neck round out the tonewoods, and this guitar has a balanced, lively acoustic response that provides an ideal platform for the high-powered pickup complement. The DiMarzio Satchur8 humbucker in the bridge position was tailored to Satriani’s playing style, featuring Alnico 8 magnets and delivering a smooth-yet-bright tone with an expressive attack and a sweet, singing lead tone. There’s plenty of harmonic complexity on tap, and this high-output pup can sound massive, while backing off the Volume control yields a touch-sensitive quality for more subtle, expressive work without losing any sonic heft. The Sustainiac Driver in the neck position delivers clarity and sparkle in standby mode, and of course turning on the Sustainiac functionality enables near-endless sustain, with a three-way selector toggle that enables switching between sustain of the fundamental pitch, harmonic overtone, or both. Additionally, the Volume control has a push/pull Hi-Pass filter control for further tonal flexibility.  Lightweight at 7lbs 3oz, this JS2480 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

The neck is composed of two pieces of maple bisected by a piece of bubinga for improved stability, featuring Satch’s proprietary profile, a slender C-shaped carve at the nut with good shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges that transitions to a D-shaped carve as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .780” deep at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th. The 24-fret slab rosewood fretboard has a 250mm radius, and the medium fretwire is pristine, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1.650” in width and the headstock features Gotoh tuning machines. The neck heel is lightly contoured adjacent to the four-bolt neck plate for improved access in the upper registers.

Electronics include a three-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume and Tone controls with a push/pull Hi-Pass filter control at the Volume knob and a push/pull Sustainiac On/Off control at the Tone knob, as well as the three-way fundamental/overtone/mix Sustainiac toggle. Hardware includes the top-topped knurled knobs and the JS Edge tremolo; the Edge is purportedly Satriani’s favorite trem design, and this unit does have the exceptional stability and feel of the iconic original. The chrome-plated pickup cover retains the factory protective film, underscoring how little usage this instrument has had since new.

The gloss Muscle Car Red finish is bright and bold, and there’s nary a scratch on this guitar. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile feels lightning fast in the palm and is similarly flawless.

The original molded hardshell case is included, along with all factory hangtags and case candy.
