Up for sale, a 2023 Fender Traditional II Late 60s Jazzmaster in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. New for Fender Japan's Traditional II line, the Late 60s Jazzmaster model has a feature set consistent with the 1966 model year, including pearloid blocks and binding on the rosewood fretboard, witch hat knobs, and a vintage-correct "transitional" Fender logo. This model is not otherwise available to the USA market and was sourced direct from Tokyo, complete with the original Fender-branded gigbag and hangtags.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jazzmaster platform, the new Traditional II Late 60s model features redesigned vintage-style pickups, as well as USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, and USA Fender plastic parts. The instrument has plenty of sparkle and percussive cut on tap, with a range of powerful and defined tones from the two single coil pickups. And engaging the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn yields warmer, wooly sounds. Weighing 7lbs 11oz, the guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, featuring low action, spot-on intonation, and 10-46 strings (string gauge can be set to buyer's preference prior to shipment).
The maple neck has a fuller profile carve than earlier Fender Japan Jazzmasters, with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, offering a medium-depth U shape at the nut and just a hair more heft in the higher registers, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a dark cut, featuring pearloid block inlay, a modern 9 1/2" radius, and pristine slender vintage-style fretwire. The scale length is 25 1/2", and the carved bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width. The headstock sports a vintage-spec "transitional" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, the chrome hardware shines like new, and the plastic parts comprise the white witch hat knobs and deep red tortoise pickguard. The vibrato unit works smoothly and engages easily for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the vintage-style bridge and threaded saddles. There are just a couple faint marks on the body as a whole, and one tiny ding central to the back. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
This Traditional II Late 60s Jazzmaster is complete with the original hangtags and Fender-branded gigbag.
