Up for sale, a 2023 Fender Traditional Late 60s Jaguar in like-new condition and in perfect working order. New for Fender Japan's Traditional line, the Late 60s Jaguar model has a feature set consistent with the 1966 model year, including pearloid blocks and binding on the rosewood fretboard, "F"-embossed tuning machines and neck plate, and a custom color Ice Blue Metallic finish with matching headstock. This model is not otherwise available to the USA market and was sourced direct from Tokyo, complete with the original hangtags.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jaguar platform, the new Traditional Late 60s model features vintage-style pickups, as well as USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, and USA Fender plastic parts. The redesigned vintage-style pickups dish out plenty of twang and snap in the top end, with a slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart. Each pickup selection has a distinctive sound, with great clarity for strummed passages and sparkling lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds. Weighing 7lbs 10oz, the guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, featuring low action, spot-on intonation, and factory 9-42 strings (string gauge can be set to buyer's preference prior to shipment).
The maple neck has a fuller profile carve than earlier Fender Japan Jaguars, with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, offering a medium-depth U shape at the nut and just a hair more heft in the higher registers, measuring .860" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid block inlay, a modern 9 1/2" radius, and slender vintage-style fretwire. The scale length is 24", and the carved bone nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock sports a vintage-spec logo, with Fender F-style tuning machines.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, the chrome hardware shines like new, and the plastic parts comprise the pointer knobs and parchment pickguard which retains its clear factory film and advert. The vibrato unit works smoothly and engages easily for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the vintage-style bridge. The custom color Ice Blue Metallic gloss finish tops off the '60s look (a new finish for Fender Japan's 2023 Traditional collection). This instrument is ostensibly new, procured directly from Tokyo and dialed in beyond the factory setup to play its best.
This Traditional Late 60s Jaguar is complete with the original hangtags and an aftermarket gigbag.
