Up for sale, a 2023 Fender Traditional II 60s Jazzmaster in mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the factory hangtags. This FSR (Factory Special Run) model features a Walnut gloss finish over an alder body, accented by a deep red tortoise pickguard, clearly evoking Elvis Costello's Jazzmaster. This limited edition Fender is a new instrument only intended for sale to a Japanese domestic audience and select international markets, sourced direct from Tokyo.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jazzmaster platform, the new Traditional II Late 60s model features redesigned vintage-style pickups, as well as USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, and USA Fender plastic parts. The instrument has plenty of sparkle and percussive cut on tap, with a range of powerful and defined tones from the two single coil pickups. And engaging the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn yields warmer, wooly sounds. Lightweight at 7lbs 12oz, the guitar balances well on a strap and has been setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, featuring the factory 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation (string gauge and setup can be dialed in to buyer's preference at no charge upon request).
The maple neck has a fuller profile carve than earlier Fender Japan Jazzmasters, with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, offering a chunky C shape at the nut and just a hair more heft in the higher registers, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features flawless slender fretwire and a modern-spec 9 1/2" fretboard radius. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the carved bone nut measures 42mm (1.650") in width. The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, the chrome hardware shines like new, and the plastic parts are clean as can be, with the original clear protective factory plastic intact on the red tortoise pickguard. The vibrato unit works smoothly and engages easily for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the vintage-style bridge. The gloss Walnut finish is in mint condition.
This Traditional II '60s Jazzmaster is complete with the original hangtag and Fender-branded gigbag.
