Up for sale, a 2023 Fender Traditional II 60s Jazzmaster FSR in mint condition and in perfect working order. An FSR (Factory Special Run) model, this Jazzmaster offers premium spin on the Traditional II platform, featuring an ash body, bound rosewood fingerboard with block inlay, witch hat knobs, medium jumbo fretwire, and a pair of Fender USA's Pure Vintage '65 gray bobbin Jazzmaster pickups. This model is not otherwise available to the USA market and was sourced direct from Tokyo, complete with the original Fender-branded gigbag and hangtags.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jazzmaster platform, the new Traditional II 60s model features USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, and USA Fender plastic parts. A particularly uncommon tonewood option for a Fender Japan Jazzmaster, the ash body ensures the instrument's natural acoustic sound has a certain midrange complexity, note attack, and clarity. The Pure Vintage '65 pickups are also a rare option, even for an FSR model, constructed with gray fiber bobbins, alnico magnets, and cloth-covered leads. These pickups deliver an array of powerful and defined tones, offering plenty of breadth, detail and sparkle. Engaging the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn yields warmer, wooly sounds. Weighing 8lbs 10oz, this Jazzmaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, featuring low action, spot-on intonation, and 10-46 strings (string gauge can be set to buyer's preference prior to shipment).
The maple neck has a fuller profile carve than earlier Fender Japan Jazzmasters, with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, offering a medium-depth U shape at the nut and just a hair more heft in the higher registers, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid block inlay, a modern 9 1/2" radius, and pristine medium jumbo fretwire. The scale length is 25 1/2", and the carved bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width. The headstock sports an early '60s "spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, the chrome hardware shines like new, and the plastic parts comprise the black witch hat knobs and three-ply black pickguard (which retains its clear protective factory film). The vibrato unit works smoothly and engages easily for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the vintage-style bridge and threaded saddles.
This Traditional II 60s Jazzmaster FSR is complete with the original hangtags and Fender-branded gigbag.
