Up for sale, a 2023 Fender Made in Japan Limited 2023 Flagship Tokyo Gold Stratocaster in like-new condition, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags, and CoA. This exquisitely crafted, exceptionally rare limited edition Stratocaster was produced in very small quantities to celebrate the opening of Fender’s Flagship Tokyo store. It features premium tonewoods and componentry including a two-piece alder body with a bookmatched, bound quilted maple top, Custom Shop Fat 60s pickups, gold hardware, and a gloss nitro lacquer "Gold" finish.

A maple neck and thick slab select rosewood fretboard round out the tonewood complement, and the USA-made Custom Shop Fat ‘60s single coil pickups deliver a bevy of classic Strat tonalities. Featuring staggered alnico magnets, black fiber bobbins and cloth-covered leads, these pickups have plenty of quintessential sparkle and snap, with crisp articulation, and feature a slightly overwound design for an extra hit of low-end punch and sonic authority. The beveled Alnico II magnets ensure warm, sweet output, and there’s hollow Strat quack via the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This guitar weighs 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck sports Fender’s Modern C shape, a slender carve with prominent shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the narrow tall fretwire is immaculate. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. The headstock features gold Kluson-style tuning machines with gold tortoise buttons, and the four-bolt gold neck plate is etched “Flagship Tokyo 2023."

Electronics are all USA-made with CTS pots and a Sprague Orange Drop tone cap in addition to the Fender Custom Shop Fat 60s pickups. Upscale features include gold hardware and a unique thick one-ply tortoise pickguard and matching trem cavity cover. The gloss Gold nitro lacquer finish highlights the deep and dimensional quilt figuring on the bookmatched maple top, framed by tortoise binding. There’s barely a scratch on the body, and the nitro lacquer gloss on the neck profile is similarly immaculate.

The original Fender-branded black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags and CoA.
