Up for sale, a 2022 Tom Bartlett 1959 Les Paul Standard ‘Burst Replica in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. In the world of ‘59 Burst replicas, Tom Bartlett’s meticulously-crafted instruments easily rank among the finest both in terms of vintage accuracy and overall quality, rivaling Gibson’s top-tier output. Bartlett carefully curates the best old growth, vintage-correct tonewoods, including genuine old growth Brazilian rosewood and Honduran mahogany, paired with equally top-notch electronics (in this case, a pair of Stephens Design “HD” PAF replicas) and a spot-on Amber Sunburst nitro lacquer finish with a light, tasteful relic.

Weighing just 8lbs 14oz, tonewoods include the Honduran mahogany body and one-piece neck, a two-piece carved curly flame maple cap, and a genuine bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Seattle-based Dave Stephens spent more than 14 years researching everything there is to know about the PAF - down to winding patterns and even metallurgical analysis - investigating, deconstructing, and repairing a number of genuine examples. Wound on machines custom-built by Stephens himself, these Stephens Design HD PAF pickups feature vintage-spec wire and braided leads, with 80% of the parts made in-house. The bridge pickup is the classic ‘59 HD, delivering quintessential PAF tailored midrange clarity, airy warmth, and sweet treble articulation, and the BN (bright) iteration at the neck is designed for extra brightness and clarity, ideal for balancing the natural breadth and warmth of the neck position. This Bartlett has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Amber Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is (like the rest of the instrument), very faithful to genuine late ‘50s Gibson examples in its application, thickness, and overall fade pattern, exhibiting checking and a handful of tiny nicks as part of Bartlett’s very gentle relic process. Beyond the factory aging, there isn’t a scratch on this guitar, and the nitro gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
