Up for sale, a 2022 Tokai Love Rock model LS148F in like-new condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan, this modern iteration of the LP Standard platform features a striking gloss Ocean Blue Burst finish that highlights vibrant straight tiger flame which extends liberally across every inch of the top. The traditional tonewood combination of a carved maple cap and solid mahogany body yields an authoritative acoustic quality, pairing the rich warmth of mahogany and snappy articulation of maple.
The stock pair of MK2-S PAF humbuckers have a range of defined, clear tonalities, offering ample muscle. Despite their "PAF" name, these humbuckers are akin to the higher gain pickup pairings of many of Gibson's modern LP Standards, and the bridge pickup meters at a whopping 14k ohms, while the neck pickup reads at 9k. Each position on the three-way switch is distinct, with a rich, roaring quality at the bridge, and a bold, smooth neck pickup. This Love Rock weighs 9lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, accurate intonation, and 10-46 strings.
The one-piece mahogany neck has a substantial ‘50s-style C-shaped profile carve, bordering on “baseball bat” heft with generous shoulder, measuring .875” deep at the 1st fret and .990” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl trapezoid inlay and flawless medium jumbo frets. The guitar plays well in all registers up the straight neck with a 12” fretboard radius and a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is a full 24 3/4", and the hand-carved bone nut measures 1 11/16" (43mm) in width. The open book headstock shape, Kluson-style tuners, gold script text and pearloid logo inlay all echo the original Gibson aesthetic.
All of the electronics work as intended, with the classic Les Paul/Love Rock control layout and individual Volume and Tone knobs for each humbucker. The nickel-plated hardware is flawless, and the plastics are equally pristine, with the clear protective factory film still intact on the pickguard, control cavity cover, and pickup covers. The bookmatched flame maple top has a glossy Ocean Blue Burst finish framed by cream binding, and tight, straight tiger maple figuring extends evenly across the top.
