Up for sale, a 2022 Strymon El Capistan dTape Echo v2 pedal in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original box, power supply and paperwork. This Strymon delay faithfully captures the warm, saturated, and irregular qualities of genuine vintage tape echo machines, utilizing a “ridiculously powerful” ARM DSP to power their proprietary dTape algorithms and offering a broad array of tape machine sounds (including some unattainable with a physical machine) without the headaches of tape machine maintenance and repair.
The El Capistan v2 provides extensive control over tape quality, machine health, and tonal sculpting, offering the user a huge range of sounds from factory-fresh echo machines to the fluctuating, gnarled and vibey sounds of a road-worn unit. Toggle between Fixed, Multi-Head, and Single Head tape machines, each of which has three distinct modes for further specificity, with Time, Wow & Flutter, Tape Age, Repeats, and Mix controls. Additionally, the El Capistan v2 offers a built-in Spring reverb control, just like a genuine vintage tape machine, adding a gentle lushness and atmosphere to the sound. The premium analog JFET circuit is highly responsive to user inputs and dynamics, and the ARM DSP chip provides more processing power while consuming less energy on the pedalboard. MIDI implementation means every switch, knob, and setting can be remotely controlled, with 300 preset locations for saving and loading favorite settings, and there’s also a USB-C connection port. The El Capistan also has stereo functionality.
