Up for sale, a 2022 Riggio Custom Guitars Special DC in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and spec sheet. Custom ordered by Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and finished in aged Inverness Green, this Riggio is a unique spin on the Les Paul Special platform, featuring a Firebird neck position humbucker and a traditional P-90 at the bridge.

In a class all his own, Joe Riggio produces some of the most compelling, soulful, and truly inspiring guitars made in this decade or any other. Riggio’s Special DC is a fastidiously hand-crafted instrument from his one-man shop, with production limited to only a few dozen instruments a year. As one of Gibson's trusted collaborators, Joe Riggio's guitars feature exacting, officially licensed Gibson body shapes. One of sparingly few dealers given legal approval from Gibson to use their trademarked body shapes, these instruments feature hand-selected lightweight tonewoods, proprietary neck carves (mapped on a CNC from actual vintage examples), and vintage-accurate hardware and plastics.

This Special DC features a solid mahogany body, mahogany neck and a bound Indian rosewood fretboard, and the tonewood complement yields a rich, resonant acoustic profile with great natural midrange warmth faithfully captured by the pair of hand-wound pickups. The F-Bird mini-humbucker in the neck position meters at 7.3k ohms, offering treble cut and sweetness, with a thick lower midrange and taut, punchy lows. The P-90 soapbar single coil in the bridge position has bark and glassy cut, metering at 7.8k ohms, with the growl, presence, and midrange power inherent in the P-90 design. The pickups also complement each other well in the middle position, wired out-of-phase for a unique, slinky sound that balances top-end sparkle with lower-midrange fullness. Featherweight at just 7lbs 2oz, this Riggio has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a “‘59 C” neck profile, a substantial carve with generous shoulders in every register, filling the palm with ideal heft, measuring .890” deep at the 1st fret and .985” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard has a 12” radius, and the medium jumbo fretwire is pristine, with extra attention to the end dress on the frets for a particularly inviting and comfortable playing experience. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale, and the hand-carved bone nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock features Riggio’s script logo and aged Kluson strip tuning machines.

Electronics include a traditional LP control array, hardware includes the compensated MojoAxe wraparound tailpiece, and plastics comprise the quartet of reflector-top knobs and the thick one-ply tortoise pickguard. The gloss Inverness Green nitro lacquer finish has been lightly aged by Riggio, with horizontal lacquer checking and some simulated marks of wear.

The original Riggio-branded Lifton-style brown tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included, along with the factory spec sheet.
