The premier Rickenbacker solid body model, this 660 features maple neck-through construction and highly figured flame maple body wings, sporting a gloss Mapleglo finish; accented by checkerboard binding and gold plastics. The pair of Toaster Top pickups capture a sparkling percussive cut and harmonically-rich Rickenbacker jangle. The neck has a substantial D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders, measuring .880” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features triangle inlays that stretch all the way to the fretboard edges, with fret-edge binding on the flawless slender fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rods. The nut measures a full 1 3/4“ in width. The headstock sports a gold Rickenbacker truss rod cover, and the Ric Deluxe Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with gleaming chrome plating.
The electronics include individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup, and Rickenbacker's unique fifth knob provides a smooth gradient for blending in the neck pickup when both pickups are engaged.
