Up for sale, a 2022 Paul Reed Smith DGT in near-mint condition with a Black Gold Wrap Burst 10 Top, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags, and case candy. The DGT (David Grissom Trem) is the result of more than 20 years of collaboration between Paul Smith and David Grissom. Based on the McCarty, features unique to the DGT model including Grissom’s signature neck profile, DGT humbuckers, taller fretwire, and a revised control layout
Grissom and Paul Smith spent a year A/B-ing more than forty sets of pickups before nailing the vintage-voice of the DGT humbuckers. Paired with individual Volume controls for each pickup and a push/pull Master Tone control which operates the coil taps, the “Texas voiced” DGT pickups provide top-notch versatility and articulation. This DGT weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The mahogany neck has a DGT exclusive profile carve, a slightly smaller version of the PRS Wide-Fat neck, measuring .855” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a notably dark cut with a 10” radius, moon inlay, and pristine Dunlop 6100 "jumbo" fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 21/32” in width. This guitar was also recently Plek’d, ensuring ideal action and playability. The headstock sports a “DGT” logo truss rod cover, and the Phase III open-gear locking tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with faux bone buttons. The back of the headstock retains the handwritten serial and “10” denoting the premium 10 Top.
The electronics function flawlessly, with the pickup pair governed by a three-way pickup selector switch, independent Volume control and a Master Tone knob which doubles as a push/pull global coil tap. The nickel-plated hardware with gold accents shines like new, and the patented Gen III tremolo actuates smoothly and snaps quickly back to pitch.
The gloss Black Gold Wrap Burst finish highlights the tight, three-dimensional figuring in the flame maple 10 Top, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a scant few tiny dings and faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.
The original hardshell case with form-fit plush interior is included, along with all of the hangtags/paperwork and case candy. Also included is the “Plek’d Certification,” dated to Feb 20, 2023, with a printout of each string’s Plek scan.
