Up for sale, a 2022 Kauer Banshee JR in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. This boutique interpretation of the Firebird platform is a lightweight tone monster, crafted from Spanish mahogany and loaded with a solitary Wolfetone humbucker. The three-piece Spanish mahogany neck and body wings were selected for their stage-friendly weight; this Kauer is featherweight at just 5lbs 14oz, and the neck-through construction ensures great natural sustain, faithfully captured by the original Wolfetone KauerBucker. Wound by Wolfetone specifically for Kauer, this humbucker meters at 8.5k ohms and delivers big, bold tones with great articulation and taut, snappy lows. It’s a decidedly vocal sounding humbucker, clear but with just enough bark, and takes gain very well for monster chords and singing, white-hot leads. The Coil Split and Cocked Wah two-way toggles expand the tonal range of the humbucker; the Coil Split enables single coil snap and sparkle, and the Cocked Wah has a midrange-focused effect. This Kauer has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and optimal intonation. The three-piece Spanish mahogany neck has a substantial C-shaped profile carve with generous, inviting shoulders and ideal heft approaching “baseball bat” territory, measuring .875” deep at the 1st fret and 1.015” at the 12th. The bound wenge fretboard has a 12” radius with pearloid dot inlay, and the slender fretwire is pristine. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the hand-carved bone nut measures 1.7" in width. The headstock has a scarfed joint for improved strength and sports a set of Rickard Banjo tuners, designed to be lightweight with a guitar-friendly gear ratio, which turn very smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The back of the headstock is signed by Doug Kauer and has a hand inked serial. All of the electronics function as intended, with the Wolfetone humbucker wired to Master Volume and Tone controls, plus the two-way Coil Tap and Cocked Wah switches on the pickguard. Plastics include the pair of white skirted knobs and white one-ply pickguard. The control cavity cover is embossed with the Kauer logo and Banshee #607, and the nickel-plated hardware shines like new, including the pickup cover and compensated TonePros Wrap-Around tailpiece. The gloss Pink finish is bright and bold, and there’s nary a scratch on the body as a whole. The smooth semi-gloss finish on the neck profile is similarly pristine.A heavily padded Mono case is included.
