Up for sale, a 2022 Fender Junior Collection Jazz Bass in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. A newer Fender Japan model only offered to the domestic Japanese market and select foreign territories, this Jazz Bass sports a short 30” scale and slightly smaller body (6% smaller than normal), perfect for smaller hands or those who prefer the inherent thump and playability of a short scale bass.
This bass has a lively and resonant acoustic response with a basswood body, maple neck and thick slab rosewood fretboard. The proprietary Junior Collection Modified Jazz Bass single coil pickups faithfully deliver a range of JB tones regardless of their slightly smaller-than-normal form factor. There's a growl and clarity to the bridge pickup, balanced by the fuller thump of the neck position single coil, with plenty of articulation and warmth when blending the two. This Jazz Bass weighs 7lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, comfortable action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders at the nut and a gentle increase in overall heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .795” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a modern 9 1/2” radius with flawless slender fretwire. This bass plays cleanly in all registers up the 30” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1 1/2” in width. On the satin headstock, the clover-button tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and JD22-prefix serial are present on the back of the headstock.
All of the electronics function as intended; the stock harness is untouched, with full-size USA-made 250k CTS pots, and the pickups are governed by a standard Volume/Volume/Tone control configuration. The chrome plating on the bridge base and control plate shines like new, as do the steel barrel saddles. Plastics comprise the three-ply mint green pickguard and trio of knobs. There's barely a scratch on the satin Surf Green finish, and the satin finish on the neck profile is similarly immaculate.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
