Up for sale, a 2021 Traditional II ‘70s Telecaster Custom in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. This “Made in Japan” Tele Custom faithfully captures the look and feel of a genuine ‘70s example, featuring an ash body and a one-piece maple neck with a substantial U-shaped profile carve.
With a Wide Range humbucker in the neck position and a traditional Tele single coil at the bridge, this Tele has a very broad tonal spectrum, from thick-yet-articulate tones in the neck position to chiming, twangy single coil tones at the bridge. The middle position is truly a "best of both worlds" setting, and the two pickups balance well both in terms of output and their respective tonal attributes. Weighing 8lbs 14oz, this guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a chunky U-shaped profile with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .885” deep at the 1st fret and .925” at the 12th. The fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the fretwire is pristine. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The headstock sports a block logo, bullet truss rod nut, and “F”-stamped tuning machines.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by independent sets of Volume and Tone controls and a three-way pickup selector switch. Plastics comprise the quartet of witch hat knobs and the large three-ply pickguard. The hardware is all notably clean, including the “Fender”-embossed pickup cover, “Pat. Pend” bridge base and trio of steel barrel saddles.
Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to a scant few faint scratches along the lower bout perimeter. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
