Up for sale, a 2021 Tech 21 MP40 Limited Edition Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp bass DI pedal in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original box and manual. Released in tandem with the Canadian bass legend to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rush’s Moving Pictures, the MP40 expands on Tech 21/Lee’s first collaboration, the YYZ DI pedal. Like all SansAmp pedals, it’s capable of dialing up big vintage tube tones, bright modern slap sounds, grimy distortions, and everything in between.

Controls include Master Volume and Drive knobs, Mix, which blends between Deep (studio clean) and Drive (dirty tube amp tones), as well as a three-band EQ with Low, Mid, and High knobs. Further tonal flexibility is added by the Tight button, which adds top-end definition to the sound and makes distortion much snappier. The Boost footswitch provides a 12dB presence boost, and engaging the Shape Shifter button puts an extra 6dB of Schmegilka on top of that, which, according to Geddy Lee, is “an indefinable thing of awesomeness!”

The MP40 is exceptionally well-suited for both studio and stage applications, able to dial up a wide array of tones. This unit is in fantastic shape, with barely a mark on the enclosure. The graphic is pristine and was inspired by the Hugh Syme-designed artwork for Moving Pictures.
