Up for sale, a 2021 Riggio Custom Guitars Tango, near-mint and complete with a Fender hardshell case. In a class all his own, Joe Riggio creates some of the most compelling, soulful, and truly inspiring guitars made in this decade or any other. Riggio's Tango is a fastidiously hand-crafted instrument from his one-man shop, with production limited to only a few dozen instruments a year. With hand-selected lightweight tonewoods, proprietary neck carves (mapped on a CNC from actual vintage examples), and vintage-accurate hardware and plastics, this Tango features Riggio's proprietary Pink Paisley material. Faithful to the original paisley cling foil, yet a new material custom commissioned by Riggio for his Paisley guitars, this paisley print has a vintage-spec dimensional appearance, aging and checking just like a guitar from 1969.Riggio's hand-wound set of Route 66 single coil pickups offers traditional Tele cut, with a gutsy, chewy twang in the bridge position and silky, round neck pickup sound. This Tango is lightweight and balanced at 7lbs 7oz, dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, accurate intonation, and 10-46 strings. The maple neck has a “63 C” neck profile carve, medium depth at the nut with full shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. A hallmark of Riggio’s instruments is the “Real Deal Feel” on the neck. This involves a smooth gradient between high gloss nitro and almost bare maple on the profile, simulating to an exacting degree the way in which contact with the palm naturally ages a finish over decades. This combined with a rolled fretboard edge and extra attention to the end dress on the frets results in a particularly inviting and effortless playing experience. The lightly figured flame maple cap fretboard has 6105 fretwire, and this Tango boasts a modern 9.5" fretboard radius, 25 1/2" scale length, and 1 5/8" nut width. The nut is hand-carved from bone for optimal note articulation and sustain. The headstock features Riggio's script logo waterslide decal and genuine Fender "F" tuning machines.Electronics include Riggio's Route '66 single coil pickups, CTS 250K audio taper pots, and a premium tone cap. The pickups meter at 5.6k ohms in the neck position and 7k at the bridge. Hardware comprises an aged three-saddle Fender bridge, chrome control plate and flat-topped knurled knobs. The clear plexi pickguard also has the correct pink "burst" around the neck pickup. The Pink Paisley material shows prominent horizontal checking beneath the clear coat, consistent with how the foil material ages on '60s Fender paisley finishes. The Pink Paisley is framed by a pink burst on the body edges, and the guitar has Riggio's light relic treatment, showing virtually no wear beyond the factory aging.A Fender black tolex hardshell case is included.
