Up for sale, a 2021 Jewitt OM-C, near-mint and complete with the original hardshell case and paperwork. Crafted by famed luthier Jeff Jewitt, a Cleveland-based furniture restorer and instrument maker who has been crafting specialty guitars since the late 1980s, this OM-C is Jewitt’s take on the Orchestra Model body shape with an elegant Venetian cutaway. The body measures 15“ wide at the lower bout with a body depth of 4 1/4”. Weighing 4lbs 10oz, the tonewood complement comprises an Adirondack spruce-braced master-grade cedar top, cocobolo back and sides, and a mahogany neck capped with a blackwood fingerboard, with hot hide glue construction throughout.
The Orchestra body shape is prized for its prodigious volume and voicing that's sympathetic to fingerpicking. Capturing the power and low end clarity akin to a dreadnought, the cocobolo back/rims yield clear highs, deep resonant lows, and ample sustain. The cedar top has the signature “broken-in” sound of this tonewood, with a certain mellowness and rich overtones, further accentuated by the woody lower midrange and treble chime of the blackwood fingerboard. This OM-C benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
