Up for sale, a 2017 Fender Traditional 70s Telecaster Thinline in showroom-clean condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. A "Made in Japan" model rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Tele boasts exceptional fit and finish work and a pair of Wide Range humbuckers. These pickups are fat and full-sounding while retaining a distinctive top end character, and the semi-hollow ash body provides both midrange punch and a certain airy quality. This Tele weighs just 7lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The gloss-finished maple fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, and the original slender frets are flawless. The guitar plays well in all registers up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock features a '70s-spec block logo and Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The electronics function as intended, with Master Volume and Tone knobs governing the Wide Range humbucker pair. The chrome hardware and plastic parts are practically perfect, with great dimension in the white pearloid pickguard and exceptional shine to the knurled flat-topped knobs, bridge, block saddles, and “Fender”-embossed pickup covers. The gloss Blonde finish is translucent and highlights the grain of the ash body. This is an exceedingly well-kept example, with barely a scratch on the body and a similarly pristine finish on the neck. The original Fender-branded gigbag and hangtags are included.
