Up for sale, a 2021 Fender Traditional '60s Stratocaster in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags. With a gloss Fiesta Red FSR (Factory Special Run) finish, this discontinued Strat was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, rarely seen outside its country of origin. The trio of alnico magnet single coils have plenty of chime and sparkle, governed by a five-way pickup selector switch. The bridge pickup has great cut, while the in-between settings on the switch have quintessential Strat quack, and the neck pickup is bell-like and round. Weighing 7lbs 3oz, we've dialed in this Stratocaster here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 9-42 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with tons of shoulder and ample heft, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .910” at the 12th. The thick, dark rosewood slab fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius with flawless slender vintage-style fretwire. The guitar plays effortlessly up the 25 1/2" scale, and the nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style tuning machines have the correct vintage look, turn smoothly, and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics work as they should, with a trio of staggered pole piece single coil pickups wired to USA-made CTS pots. The vibrato has a large block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. Plastics include ivory pickup covers and knobs with a mint green pickguard. The custom color Fiesta Red gloss finish tops off the '60s look, and cosmetic wear is limited to a trio of dings on the lower bout on the back, just beyond the belly contour. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag and hangtags are included.
