Up for sale, a 2021 Fender Traditional 60s Jazzmaster electric guitar in mint condition and perfect working order, thoroughly upgraded with Antiquity II pickups, a Mastery M1 bridge, and a Fender molded hardshell case. This FSR (Factory Special Run) model features a Lake Placid Blue gloss finish and matching peghead, and deviating from its "traditional" mandate, also boasts a chocolate brown roasted maple neck with a substantial U profile carve, increasing the resonance and sustain of the instrument. This limited edition Fender is a like-new guitar, sourced directly from Tokyo and complete with the original hangtags, only intended for sale to the Japanese domestic audience.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jazzmaster platform, this Traditional 60s model has been upgraded with USA-made Seymour Duncan Antiquity II gray bobbin pickups. These premium vintage spec pickups deliver ample sparkle and cut, with more tonal breadth than any other Fender single coil. A bit more spanky and bright than the Antiquity Is, the Antiquity IIs feature hand-ground Alnico V rod magnets and push-back cloth-covered leads, wound to a robust 8.2k ohms in the neck position and 8.6k at the bridge. Yielding a range of powerful and defined tones via the three-way toggle, the sound gets warm and wooly when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Very lightweight for a Jazzmaster at 7lbs 6oz, the guitar balances well on a strap and has been setup to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, featuring 11-50 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The roasted maple neck has a fuller profile shape than earlier Fender Japan Jazzmasters, with a substantial U profile carve, particularly full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .890" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a dark, tight-grained cut, with flawless slender fretwire and a modern-spec 9 1/2" fretboard radius. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the carved bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width. The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, the chrome hardware shines like new, and the plastic parts are clean as can be. The vibrato unit works smoothly and engages easily for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the upgraded Mastery M1 bridge which adds notable sustain, articulation, and resonance to the instrument's natural acoustic response. The gloss Lake Placid Blue finish is in mint condition.
This Traditional '60s Jazzmaster is complete with a brand new upgraded Fender hardshell case, along with the original factory paperwork, pickups, and bridge.
