Up for sale, a 2021 Fender Traditional 60s Jaguar electric guitar in mint condition and perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and gigbag. A discontinued FSR (Factory Special Run) example with a Black custom color finish and matching headstock, this model was made exclusively for the domestic Japanese market, rarely seen outside its country of origin.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jaguar platform, the new Traditional 60s model features Fender's V-Mod pickups, as well as USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, and USA Fender plastic parts. Tonally, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, and these gray bobbin single coils have a hotter wind with a flat pole piece design, offering more midrange emphasis. The pickups still dish out plenty of twang and snap in the top end, with a slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart and a balanced, sweet sound with great clarity for strummed passages and sparkling lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds.
Top it off with more chrome than a Cadillac and you have the model that was Fender's flagship guitar when it was introduced in '62, with every bell and whistle Leo Fender and his team could think to include. This guitar weighs 7lbs 8oz, with a warm and clear acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jag plays very well with the factory 9-42 strings, low action, and accurate intonation (string gauge and setup can be adjusted to buyer's taste).
The one-piece maple neck has a chunky and substantial C profile carve with particularly round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The thick, dark rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlays and flawless slender vintage-spec fretwire on the 24" scale. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The fretboard radius measures 9 1/2", and the nut has Fender's traditional 1 5/8" width. The headstock features a matching Black finish, fitted with Gotoh, Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.
The electronics include individual on/off switches for each pickup on the Lead Circuit, in addition to the bass cut (or "strangle switch") on/off toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Rhythm Circuit has its own pair of Volume and Tone wheels in addition to the on/off toggle switch that engages this circuit, which adds a darker tone cap exclusively for use on the neck pickup. The vibrato unit is smooth and responsive, actuating easily for surfy warbles and dives. The chrome-plated hardware and plastic parts are perfect, and the clear protective plastic and Fender advert are intact on the mint green pickguard. The guitar is showroom clean without a scratch on it, and the neck profile is flawless.
The Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the hangtags.
