Up for sale, a 2021 Fender Super-Sonic in showroom-clean condition and in perfect working order with an Olympic White gloss finish, complete with the original hangtags. A FSR (Factory Special Run) model recently offered as a Fender Japan exclusive for the Japanese domestic market, this Super Sonic is Fender's most upscale iteration of this model to date. The Super-Sonic model made its debut in 1997 under the Squier brand via Fender Japan's Vista Series, while the short-lived and discontinued iteration of the Super Sonic seen here bears the top shelf Fender branding.The guitar features a particularly compact basswood body, maple neck, and very thick slab rosewood fretboard, loaded with a pair of Fender Japan's Dragster BB humbuckers. Via the unusual dual Volume knob control array, these pickups have plenty of attitude and power, ideal for overdriven crunch and cutting drive. The guitar is featherweight at 6lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-48 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve, yet with very full-feeling shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. The thick rosewood slab fretboard has a modern 9.5" radius with flawless medium jumbo fretwire that plays easily up the 24" scale. The nut measures a full 42.5mm in width (1 11/16"), and the reverse headstock features Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.All of the electronics function as intended, with a three-way pickup selector toggle and dedicated Volume knobs for each Dragster humbucker. The hardware shines like new, and the vintage-spec Strat-style vibrato engages smoothly for warbles and deeper dives. There's barely a scratch on the Olympic White gloss finish, and the guitar comes complete with the original hangtags.
