Up for sale, a 2021 Jim Adkins signature JA-90 Telecaster Thinline in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with a Roadrunner hardshell case. This Artist Series model, designed in collaboration with the Jimmy Eat World frontman, was built to recreate the distinct sound of Adkins' TC-90 Tele Thinline. This hot-rodded version of the modern Thinline platform features heel-less set neck construction, an Adjusto-matic bridge and stoptail, and Seymour Duncan P-90 pickups, for what Fender and Adkins describe as “the very embodiment of sonic sweetness.”Tonewoods include the semi-hollow ash body and maple neck capped with an Indian laurel fretboard, giving this guitar a mid-forward acoustic presence and airy warmth, faithfully translated by the pickup complement; two Seymour Duncan P90s. In the neck is Duncan’s SP90-1N, metering at 11.6k ohms and engineered as a recreation of Gibson’s original 1946 single coil, offering plenty of midrange grit and growl, with a tight, warm low end and enough treble sparkle to keep things articulate. The bridge pickup is a Duncan SP90-3B, metering at a blistering 14.6k ohms, offering an aggressive, punchy quality with ripping treble grind. Both pickups take gain beautifully to produce a creamy/dirty old-school breakup that remains responsive while getting plenty grimy. Weighing 8lbs 4oz, this JA-90 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a modern C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .895” at the 12th. The 22 fret Indian laurel fretboard has a 9 1/2" radius with lightly rolled edges for added comfort and pristine medium jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4” scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The synthetic bone nut measures 42mm (1.650”) in width. On the headstock, the tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. Jim Adkins’ signature decal is present on the back of the headstock.Electronics include the Seymour Duncan P90s wired to a three-way pickup selector and individual Volume and Tone knobs for each P-90. Hardware includes the Adjusto-matic bridge and corresponding stopbar, both with gleaming chrome plating. The three-ply white pickguard and replacement quartet of white reflector cap knobs are similarly pristine. Cosmetic wear on the gloss White finish is limited to some faint scuffs in the clear coat central to the back, likely from contact with a strap. The gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.A Roadrunner-brand hardshell case is included.
