Up for sale, a 2021 Fender Japan Exclusive Daiki Tsuneta signature model Swinger in like-new condition and in perfect working order. A Fender Japan website exclusive that sold out instantly upon release, this model was only available for buyers in Japan and is exceedingly rare. The signature model for King Gnu frontman Daiki Tsuneta, this guitar is built on the platform of one of Fender's rarest offset body models, the Swinger, which was initially a non-catalog offering in 1969. Tsuneta's signature expands the tonal palette of the original Fender model with a pair of impressive P-90 soapbar pickups with factory-aged nickel covers. These pickups have excellent articulation and a dynamic, glassy spank. And while these overwound single coils can be driven hard for midrange-rich chewy overdrive and bark, they also offer more clarity than most. The instrument is featherweight at 6lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with the factory 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has what Fender Japan is describing as a U-profile carve, and while the profile shape does have round shoulders, it's more in "medium C" territory, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .880" at the 12th. The edges on the maple fretboard are lightly rolled for added comfort, and the board has a modern 9 1/2" radius with flawless fretwire. The scale length is 24", and the nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. The matching Olympic White headstock features Schaller-made, Fender-branded locking tuning machines and a bullet truss rod. Electronics include the pair of P-90 pickups wired to Master Volume and Tone knobs and a tiny three-way mini toggle pickup selector. The instrument also boasts a Strat-style vibrato unit with a full-size block, actuating very easily with three springs. A single-ply thick transparent brown tortoise pickguard accents the factory-aged nickel P-90 covers, and the Olympic White gloss finish is a nice milky shade of this classic custom color. This Fender is rare as can be, like-new and in-hand here in the USA, dialed in to play its best. The original Fender padded gigbag and hangtags are included.
