Up for sale, a 2021 Fender Hama Okamoto Signature Precision Bass “#4," brand new and complete with the original hangtags. Imported directly from Tokyo and a Fender Japan exclusive model not designed for export, this expertly made Precision Bass is the signature model for Hama Okamoto, one of the most influential bassists in the contemporary Japanese music scene. This signature model is based on Okamoto's favorite Precision Bass, a model from 1968, yet also benefits from a notably slender 1 1/2" nut width for effortless playability, a feature typically associated with the Jazz Bass model. Other unique vintage-spec accents include "lollipop" buttons on the tuning machines, spiral bridge saddles, and a factory-installed chrome "ashtray" bridge cover. This signature Precision Bass has a rich, balanced tonal profile, boasting a thick slab rosewood fretboard and vintage-spec split-coil pickup. Strung with 45-100 roundwound strings, the bass delivers smooth, articulate punch and round thump. The bass weighs 8lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a "Classic 60s Jazz Bass" neck profile carve, a modestly slender C shape with good shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, gaining more heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. On the dark rosewood slab fretboard, the slender vintage-style frets are flawless, and the fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius. Notes ring out clearly in every register, and the neck is straight with a responsive truss rod. The carved bone nut has a slender 1 1/2" width, ensuring optimal note clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the vintage-style “Lollipop” button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well, and the headstock has a classic Pre-CBS style "spaghetti" logo along with Hama Okamoto's signature on the back. The traditional electronics work as they should, with the pickup wired to Master Volume and Tone controls with knurled metal knobs. As this is a new instrument, the factory clear protective plastic is still intact on the pickup covers and pickguard. The Olympic White gloss finish is a vintage correct shade, accented by a red tortoise pickguard. The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the hangtags.
