Up for sale, a 2021 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Carlos Lopez 1963 Stratocaster LCC (Lush Closet Classic) in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags, and COA. The highest tier of Fender's Custom Shop, the Masterbuilt models are individually created by Fender's top craftspeople. This particular Strat was hand-crafted by Carlos Lopez, faithfully replicating the feel and aesthetic appearance of a guitar that's been carefully played for decades, with a pitch perfect Cadillac Green nitro lacquer finish over a roasted alder body. Apparent from the moment you strike your first chord, this Strat has a rich, textured acoustic tone with exquisite string-to-string clarity and resonance, and these qualities translate well through the stock Custom Shop hand-wound Fat 50s black bobbin pickups for an array of familiar and vital Fender tones. These Custom Shop coils deliver sparkling cut in the bridge position, with thicker tones and bell-like harmonics from the neck position single coil. The pickups are governed by a five-way pickup selector switch, and the middle pickup is RWRP for excellent squawk and cut in the "in between" settings. The guitar weighs a modest 7lbs 12oz and balances well on a strap too. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Custom Shop Masterbuilt is dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The quartersawn maple neck has Fender's 10/56 V profile carve according to the build sheet, yet the neck shape barely infers a V, feeling more akin to a medium C carve yet with particularly full-feeling shoulders that give the perception of additional depth, filling the palm and chording effortlessly. The profile measures .850" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. Additionally, the gloss nitro lacquer on the profile has a silky smooth feel with simulated palm wear. The thick slab AAA rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay, a modern 12" fretboard radius, and flawless medium jumbo 6150 fretwire with perfectly rounded crowns. The bone nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the factory aged Kluson Deluxe single line tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The waterslide decal on the headstock face is flawless, while the Custom Shop chevron and Carlos Lopez signature is present on the reverse side. The electronics function as intended, the hardware shows simulated patina, and the pickup covers and knobs are factory aged as well, framed by a particularly lively red tortoise pickguard with an unusually light "bleached" appearance. The factory relic treatment includes prominent spiderweb lacquer checking and a couple simulated marks of wear on the lower bout edge on top. The original brown tolex Fender G&G hardshell case is included along with the COA/build sheet booklet and all hangtags and case candy.
