Up for sale, a 2021 Collings City Limits Deluxe Aged in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtags, and ephemera. A unique factory aged example, this Collings features lacquer checking on the Olympic White gloss and simulated wear on the gold-plated hardware. Crafted with the finest seasoned Honduran mahogany (including the top), this City City Limits takes its inspiration from a 1950s Les Paul Custom and elevates the design, with a carefully hand-set mortise and tenon neck joint and a slab ebony fingerboard rounding out the tonewoods.
This Collings is one of the finest USA-made boutique guitars available today, with an eye towards history and exacting standards for tone and modern playability. All woods are acclimated and hand-selected for density and acoustic response, and the guitar is extremely lively and resonant with ergonomic contouring at both sides of the waist, and a neck joint that's angled toward the cutaway, following the body lines. This CL Deluxe is loaded with a set of replacement Bare Knuckle Black Dog humbuckers. Voiced to capture a vintage flavor with more heft and chunk in the midrange, these Alnico V pickups have great harmonic complexity, a dynamic feel, and a tailored low end response for optimal clarity. The bridge pickup meters at 9.25k ohms, with a thick, authoritative snarl, and the neck has a percussive cut and sweet treble response, metering at 8.1k ohms. This CL Deluxe benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss Olympic White nitro lacquer finish is meticulously applied and hand-sanded between coats for an ideal thickness and natural acoustic response, and this finish has been gently aged, exhibiting subtle “spiderweb” lacquer checking. Beyond the synthetic aging, there’s barely a scratch on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is similarly immaculate.
The original Ameritage hardshell is included, along with the hangtags, ephemera, and an alternate set of black control cavity and switch covers.
