Up for sale, a 2020 Wang Amplifiers Pulsar Reverb in showroom-clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made in small quantities and hand-built in Portland, OR, Wang amplifiers use top shelf ingredients such as high purity copper wire and premium USA-made capacitors, resistors, and transformers, wired point-to-point for an incredible sound and reliable performance. A modern, boutique take on the Fender Princeton Reverb platform, this Pulsar Reverb comes with a Celestion A-Type 12” speaker and impressively-sized transformers to match, for a bold and positively vintage sound.
The tone stack is modified to provide everything from mid-scooped Black Panel tones to mid-forward Tweed sounds with faux-Marshall-like qualities. Like all Wang Amplifiers, this combo comes with a variable Voltage Regulator, so you can adjust the output gradually from 1 to 20 watts. The three-spring Reverb is tuned for a bigger, more plate-like sound, and the Tremolo has the usual Depth and Speed knobs, with a bias-based design that offers thick, throbbing volume modulation with a wide range of speeds. Additionally, a three-way preamp voicing switch offers Charm, Top, and Strange settings; Charm provides classic tones, Top boosts highs/mids while keeping the low end tight, and Strange bypasses the tone stack. The amp is loaded with a ceramic magnet Celestion A-Type 12” speaker, and the tube complement includes a matched pair of JJ 6V6S power tubes, a GZ34S rectifier, and even a vintage RCA-made 12AX7 in the first preamp tube socket. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet, dating to 1/2/2020.
The solid pine cabinet is finger-jointed for increased resonance and durability, with barely a mark on the fawn and black two-tone tolex or dark blue grillcloth with gold piping. The faceplate is pristine, with clean graphics and the original set of black barrel knobs.
