Up for sale, a 2020 Riley Scout in British Racing Green, brand new and complete with its hangtag and hardshell case. Expertly handcrafted in Everett, WA, with a keen eye for detail, Garrett Riley builds modern guitars from the ground up with a timeless feel and effortless playability. Riley's resume includes a recent 7 year stint at Mike Lull Guitarworks, where he was instrumental in crafting Lull's instrument line.
With a body shape reminiscent of Gibson's RD line, the Scout features solid korina body construction with a one-piece mahogany neck capped with a thick slab 22 fret rosewood fingerboard. The Doubleday Custom P-90s meter at 7.3k in the bridge position and 6.9k at the neck, in the "low wind" range for P-90s and offering a distinctive woody cut, with a nice spank and sparkle in the treble register. There’s an inherent midrange bark with these single coils when you dig in hard, but overall they’re decidedly not woofy and very clear in every pickup position. The Scout weighs 7lbs 13oz, professionally setup with 10-46 strings.
The mahogany neck has a "Modern C" profile carve, a slender shape that retains full shoulders in every register and boasts lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .800" deep at the 1st fret and .880" at the 12th. The 22 fret slab rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius, and the Jescar 51108 medium jumbo fretwire offers plenty of meat, with notes that ring out clearly up the 25 1/2" scale. The carved bone nut measures 1.650" in width, and the headstock features Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners with a reliable and smooth 18:1 gear ratio.
Electronics include a three-way pickup selector toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs with Emerson 500k pots governing the Doubleday P-90 pair. Hardware includes a TonePros Nashville-style Tune-o-Matic bridge and corresponding locking stopbar, along with a pair of knurled knobs. The British Racing Green gloss has subtle metalflake, accented by the gold hardware and cream pickup covers.
A black tolex hardshell case is included.
